Are you considering pursuing a career as a phlebotomy technician? You are in the right place! Phlebotomy involves more than just taking blood, despite what you may imagine when you hear the name. In actuality, you will be in charge of reassuring patients, processing their information, collecting blood samples, labeling them, and sending them to the lab.
You can pursue this job and work in a wide range of environments, including hospitals, doctor’s offices, mobile blood banks, plasma facilities, and more. You will be essential to the healthcare industry, and both patients and physicians will depend on you.
Phlebotomists have a very challenging and crucial task to perform. You could visit hundreds of patients in a day, and they are all depending on you to do your job correctly, therefore your work must be exact and cautious. Even while under pressure, you must maintain your attention to detail, accuracy, and safety.
Every day, phlebotomists interact with a variety of people, showing compassion and empathy in the face of anxiety and uncertainty, and assisting patients in calming down and managing their anxieties or discomfort.
All ages and socioeconomic groups experience needle phobia, blood repulsion, or anxiety prior to a blood draw. You must be able to communicate with any or all of these people in order to be a phlebotomist. Putting the patient at rest, especially the challenging, irate, and emotional ones is job number one.
